Experienced Energy Executive appointed as new CEO of Obton A/S

As part of an ambitious strategic shift aimed at making Obton A/S one of the market's leading owners and developers of solar energy, the company has appointed a new CEO. Swedish Sandra Grauers Nilsson brings extensive experience from the energy sector and will take over the role from Anders Marcus, who will continue as an active board member.

The future vision for Obton A/S is to become a globally leading and independent energy company. This ambition is best achieved with an experienced industry leader at the helm, which is why Obton has appointed Sandra Grauers Nilsson as its new CEO. She most recently served as CEO at the energy company Eku Energy and, prior to that, held various leadership roles at Vattenfall for 15 years, the last five of which as Vice President with global responsibility for the company’s onshore wind activities.

Sandra Grauers Nilsson will join Obton on November 11, 2024, where she will begin a partnership with the current CEO Anders Marcus, until she succeeds him as CEO on February 1, 2025.

"We at Obton have a clear ambition to become a globally leading energy company, one of the best in developing and operating solar energy. That’s why we’re now adding significant leadership capacity to our team, and with Sandra leading our development, we gain a strong leader with extensive industry experience and deep market knowledge. This provides us with the ideal conditions to ensure progress in our ambitious transformation. I also look forward to continuing to contribute actively to the company’s development from the board," says Anders Marcus, Board Member and outgoing CEO.

Promising Development

In September 2024, Obton announced a strategic shift designed to lay the foundation for the future of the company. The plan is to consolidate all activities into a single energy company, working alongside Obton’s 4,500 investors. This company could become one of the largest of its kind in Europe, with a portfolio of over DKK 30 billion spread across more than 1,000 solar and battery parks in many regions of the world. Sandra Grauers Nilsson, as the new CEO, will play a key role in realizing this vision.

"Obton has embarked on a promising development with a strategy that will position the company as a strong player in the European energy market. I am proud to lead this effort. Obton has the right expertise in developing and operating solar and battery parks to make a significant contribution to the global green transition. There is a clear demand for this, and I look forward to bringing my experience to bear in unlocking our full potential," says Sandra Grauers Nilsson, incoming CEO of Obton A/S.
