Obton appointed a state backed tariff on two new solar projects in Ireland
Obton has just been awarded contracts for two solar projects in the Irish Renewable Electric Support Scheme (RESS 3).
The first solar project Tuam Energy Park 1 will have a production capacity of 28 MWp, while the other project Friarspark 2 of 3 MWp is an expansion of another already ongoing solar project, Friarspark 1 with a scale of 6 MWp, from a previous auction round (RESS 1).
According to Klaus Andersen, Senior Business Development Manager responsible for Obton's Irish projects, Friarspark 1 is currently under construction and Friarspark 2 is expected to be connected to this project during 2024. Tuam Energy Park 1 is expected to be in operation during 2025.
"Overall, the power generation from Obton's solar projects will help Ireland achieve it´s target of reaching 8 GW of installed solar power by the end of 2030. On top enabling CO2 emissions from fossil fuels to be reduced and these renewable projects will furthermore strengthen the energy independence of Ireland as a country. At Obton, we are proud to help Ireland to this green transition," says Klaus Andersen.
A total of 24 onshore wind and solar projects were awarded contracts at the RESS 3 auction.
Friarspark 1 and 2 will have a total capacity of 9 MWp. In Friarspark 1, the steel frames are fully assembled and the solar modules are being set up.
