Obton now the 9th largest solar player in Europe
New report from Solarplaza ranks Danish Obton 9th among Europe's largest players in solar energy. CEO Anders Marcus is happy about moving into the top 10.
Each year, the industry group Solarplaza ranks European solar players, and this year Obton has jumped two spots up the list. CEO Anders Marcus is very pleased with that development.
“The competition in the solar market is tough these days, and it is an industry undergoing very rapid development. That is why I am extremely proud that we have moved up into the top 10.”
In 2019, the total capacity of solar power in Europe nearly doubled compared to 2018.
In total, the new solar power installations reached 20.3 GW and, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Spain, Ukraine, Germany, the Netherlands and France accounted for about three-quarters of the total European capacity additions in 2019.
Milestone of 1 GW i sight
At the end of 2019, Obton had 700 solar parks in operation or on the way, with a total capacity of 867 MW.
“Over the course of 2020, we expect to surpass 1 GW in the combined portfolio. That is an important milestone that we look forward to reaching", says Anders Marcus.
